The engineering process: what is it and can I be an electrical engineer?

You will need your simple electronics pack from the school foyer. If you don't have it to hand, don't worry, join the session anyway and learn what to do.

• What is the problem?
• Have a good think, chat to someone else about your ideas. 
• Design/draw out your idea of how it will work. Don't forget to label.
• Build it/ improve it
• Tell others/show others your design

Theme: Houseboats

Aim:

To build a houseboat that floats in water.

What to do:

At home, design and build a houseboat using recycled or household materials.

Make sure you have a diagram. Annotate your design. Show how you’ve added and changed your design to make it better.

Success criteria:

• Did you test the design out and make improvements?

• Does it float?

• Is it sturdy?

• Is it waterproof?

• Can you evaluate the success of your design?

Computing:

research houseboats using Google images and also look up 'How to make a model boat' using Youtube. Please ensure you have a grown up near you when using the internet.
