I would love to see photographs, videos and comments about your child's 'homework'. Please email me if you have any questions, I really want to support you in any way I can.
Recap: rhymes, songs and main learning from previous week
Phonics: We will be continuing to 'tune into' percussion sounds. We will be learning a new song, 'Ready, Steady, Stop'! With your commercial instruments, or home made ones, challenge your child to play quietly, loudly, slowly etc Then, ask your child sing 'Hickory, Dickory Dock' or 'Twinkle, Twinkle' while playing their instrument. Try this with other well known songs and make it challenging by stating different speed and dynamics.
We will be listening to a story and thinking about book vocabulary such as: title, characters and setting. Please use these words when you share books at home. Do use your Oxford Owl account to access online books too (login and password on the letter you received Autumn 2 or Spring 1's Monday session).
Maths: We will be meeting a new character from Number Zoo. These characters help everyone begin to recognise numerals, and those who are ready to begin to write numerals. Please look at Number Blocks on Cbeebies where you will find links to videos about numbers 1 and 2. These short films are very popular with the children. When playing at home, collect a selections of vegetables and/ or fruit. Sort them and then count them, for example, one potato, two oranges, one pear, two bananas etc During outdoor play, look for items to count such as two sticks, one black car and so on.
