Summer Term

The children have settled back into school life brilliantly after the Christmas holidays. 

We are continuing our PE sessions in the hall on Friday afternoons. The children will need to have their named PE kit for them to use on this day.

Now that the warmer weather is starting, please can you ensure that your child comes to school in their summer uniform. As part of their school day, the children will spend a lot of time in both the outdoor area and playground. When the weather is hot please can they come into school wearing sun cream and bring a sunhat.  We will encourage your child to drink water  so if they can bring water in a named bottle that would help your child. 

In Literacy this half term, we are beginning to read and spell a variety of CCVC words. We are using our Phase 3 sounds to read and spell words.  We are continuing to read simple captions and sentences. We are also continuing to write simple sentences based on our interests. 

In Mathematics, we are counting, ordering and recognising amounts up to 20 and then beyond. We are grouping amounts into 5s and counting in 5s to find different totals. We are counting on to find the answers to simple addition questions.  

We are using ideas from your child's All About Me sheet and observations we make to plan activities based on their current interests. When your child brings home their All About Me sheet please can you fill it in and return it to school as soon as possible.
