There are many special numbers in maths. We have already looked at binary and the Fibonacci sequence.
There is a special number called 'Pi.' It was worked out by a mathematician and scientist called Archimedes. He was famous for many discoveries. He is also famous for jumping out of the bath and running down the street naked, shouting 'Eureka.'
What teachers don't tell you is how he worked out Pi.
Pi is used to work out the measurement around the edge of a circle (the circumference). It can be used to work out the circumference of ANY circle.
You will need a cereal box, a glass and some scissors.
