Advertisement for Site Manager

Hours of Work:       36.25 hours per week for 52 weeks per year

Split Shift – 7am – 10.30am and 2.30pm – 6.15pm

Statutory holiday entitlement of 25 days plus Bank Holidays

Grade: Band 3: Pt 6-11 (£23,893 - £25,979)

Line Manager: Headteacher and School Business Manager

Main responsibilities:

  • To support the work of the Headteacher, Governors and Staff
  • To liaise with the Headteacher on a daily basis
  • To ensure that the appearance of the school both internally and externally is in line with the school’s ethos and mission statement
  • To undertake and develop a programme of repair and maintenance of the school building, grounds, fixtures, furniture, equipment and fittings of the School
  • To supervise the cleaning staff including the monitoring of cleaning standards and the organisation of out of term cleaning
  • To secure the premises and contents including the operation of the fire and burglar alarms and CCTV and key holder responsibilities
  • To conduct inspections of the premises, building, including heating, lighting and alarm systems to make sure they are in good working order and compliant
  • To perform the job description in accordance with the pay and conditions associated with local authority government manual workers
  • To exercise initiative and take action when required
  • Supervise/monitor all external contractors
  • Manage cleaning staff and ensure they undertake their duties to a high standard
  • To undertake Professional Development and training, as appropriate, both within school and through external agencies

Specific responsibilities:

  • To undertake cleaning of specific areas (this post includes a minimum of 9 hours per week cleaning)
  • To clear up bodily fluids after an accident, adhering to health and safety procedures
  • To immediately undertake emergency cleaning, such as floods
  • To implement an ongoing programme of repair and maintenance of the inside and outside of the school
  • To complete general maintenance in the following areas: plumbing, joinery, glazing and decorating projects as and when required (and where appropriate)
  • To clear up bodily fluids after accidents adhering to health and safety procedures
  • To liaise with outside agencies to ensure that the school building, grounds and premises are well maintained
  • To undertake litter clearance from all external areas including the playing fields, playgrounds and perimeter fencing
  • To remove graffiti promptly
  • To undertake general caretaking/site managing duties, including
    • Maintaining the Site Managers work space
    • Maintaining lighting and heating
    • Monitoring energy usage
    • Portrage duties – carrying, moving
    • Monitoring of work carried out by contractors
  • To complete all paperwork associated with the above including time-sheets, ordering stock, completion certificates, Health and Safety and Fire Audits (with the Headteacher/school staff), Fire Drill records, Risk Assessments, etc
  • To maintain, order and manage stock within a defined budget
  • To perform key holding duties, including opening and closing the premises and ensuring the security and fire alarms are functioning correctly and be on 24 hour call-out for emergency, in conjunction with another key holder

The Site Manager is directly responsible to the Headteacher.
