Summer Second half term

In English we will be reading a non-fiction text about the development of transport and we will be reading our class text The Enormous Crocodile and some poetry. We will continue to work on punctuating sentences with capital letters, full stops, question marks and exclamation marks. We will be learning about adding suffixes such as ed, ful and est to words and about prefixes. |

Our topic for this half term is a continuation of work we have covered on the seasons. We will re-cap over previous seasons learning and we will be thinking about the summer season. |
In Computing the children will be making their own e-book and they will learn how to make parts of their book animated.
In Computing the children will have an introduction to spreadsheets. They will be thinking about what rows and columns are and they will learn how to save and open sheets. They will learn about entering data into cells and about adding images.
In Design and Technology we will be preparing and making a fruit salad.
Art will be painting and drawing topic related.
In P.E the children will be doing Outdoor games; explore basic skills of travelling, sending and receiving a medium ball. Games: developing basic game playing skills.
In Music the children will be exploring making loud and quiet sounds and slow and fast sounds.

In R.E the children will be learning about the Bible and about the meanings behind the stories.
In PHSE the children
will be learning about life cycles and about baby animals and adult animals. They will be thinking about what they can do now that they couldn’t do when they were younger. So we will be talking about how they change as they get older. |

I n French they will be learning Simple French songs and revision of numbers, colours, greetings taught over the year.
Homework will be given out on a Friday to be handed in by the following Wednesday. Please read regularly and record this in their Reading Record Book in order for your child to move up the Reading Challenge. This has to be filled in and signed by an adult. Reading each night is essential and it is part of their weekly homework.
