In English our focus will on reading a mixture of fiction and non-fiction texts. We will be learning about the features of these texts and we will be extending our vocabulary. We will read Traditional Tales and we will revise different phases of Letters and Sounds ready for the Phonics Test. The use of correct punctuation is ongoing. The children will be using conjunctions and adjectives and they will learn about nouns and verbs.
In Maths we will be covering division and sharing equally. We will be working on fractions – halves and quarters and numbers to 100. This will involve using base 10 and ones to make different numbers, number patterns and comparing numbers.
Geography will be a study of the local area. The children will conduct some field work and they will ultimately create a guide to Hale Barns.
In Science our topic for this half term is Plants and Growth. We will be identifying names of common plants from their leaves. We will be investigating what plants need to grow well.
In Computing the children will be using a program to create an e-book.
In Design and Technology the children will be experimenting with ways of selecting and joining materials to make a construction and we will be investigating ways to make something structurally stronger.
In R.E the children will be learning about what makes some places sacred? (Christianity and Islam)
Homework is given to the children on a Friday and it will be collected on a Wednesday.
P.E is on a Monday and Wednesday
