THE ENORMOUS CROCODILE BY ROALD DAHLThis Youtube video has excellent sound effects and the vocab of Dahl's text is littered with similes, onomatopoeia and interesting synonyms for everyday words. The text is a good example of the structure of a story. It introduces the main character and setting, then adds a problem that needs a resolution by the end of the story. Familiarity with how stories are structured is useful for children to know in order to be able to write their own stories in KS1.
